Oracle CRM On Demand Release 19 Provides Cloud Extensibility, Mobile Choices

July 12, 2011

The demand for increased CRM functionality and the need to have mobile access to CRM information has heralded a call to CRM providers to innovate their product offerings.

The latest CRM provider to react to the call, Oracle (News - Alert) announced today the availability of Oracle CRM On Demand Release 19, which it says has been “designed to drive revenue, reduce costs, and improve the customer experience,” according to a news announcement on TMCnet.com.

Microsoft (News - Alert) and Salesforce.com have already brought major competitive releases to market this year, according to Enterprise Apps Today.

Oracle explained that Release 19 of Oracle CRM On Demand “provides powerful new cloud extensibility and mobility choices,” thereby allowing users such as salespeople and others who rely on updated data while on the road to access the information from iPad tablet, iPhone (News - Alert) or Blackberry.  According to Oracle, “Advanced mobility with a new connected smartphone application allows sales representatives to access and update information anywhere, anytime.”

In addition, Oracle revealed that “a new, rich Microsoft Outlook user interface that enables access to all information in a familiar application, online or offline” is now available.

“With the last major release of Oracle CRM On Demand a mere nine months ago, Oracle once again showcases its industry leadership in innovation by consistently delivering new value to sales representatives on their own fast-paced timetable,” said Anthony Lye, SVP of Oracle CRM. “Oracle CRM On Demand Release 19 introduces incredible diversity and ease-of-use, creating dramatic time savings for sales representatives and new revenue opportunities for organizations as a whole. Oracle is committed to providing unrivalled business value, which is irrefutably evident in the new mobile and cloud capabilities now available in Oracle CRM On Demand Release 19.”

Enterprise Apps Today reported that Anthony Lye told them that Android apps are planned for sometime in the future and that “the apps are built on the Fusion Middleware platform and record changes instantly from sales reps in the field.” He also reportedly told that news source that because Oracle provides “an integrated data warehouse with CRM On Demand” it has “an advantage over Salesforce and Microsoft.”

In addition to the new functionality described, Oracle reported that Oracle CRM On Demand Release 19 also provides “enhanced industry functionality for life sciences, insurance, financial services and automotive.”

Jonathan Eastwood, manager of Business Delivery of CRMNow, concluded, “Enhanced Open CTI (News - Alert) APIs and hosted Java customizations enable developers to leverage open standards to meet unique customer requirements,” with Oracle CRM On Demand Release 19.

In other news, TMCnet reported that Turner Construction's Risk Management Department has deployed a number of Oracle Insurance solutions, including Oracle Insurance Insbridge Rating and Underwriting, Oracle Documaker and Oracle Insurance Data Capture.
