Wilson Electronics Debuts New All-in-One Cell Phone Signal Booster, the Sleek
January 15, 2010
Wilson Electronics, a provider of wireless communications solutions, has reportedly unveiled an all-in-one cell phone signal booster, called “the Sleek,” can be used in a vehicle or with an optional accessory package in the home or office and is ideal for use with a Bluetooth headset or other hands-free device.
Joe Banos, Wilson Electronics’ (News - Alert) chief operating officer, said that with the Sleek, the company incorporated the same performance and advantages Wilson Electronics is known for into the smallest and lowest priced signal booster the company has ever produced. The great part is that they didn’t have to compromise the features. Sleek users will benefit from the tried and tested Wilson technology found in their line of cell phone signal boosters, but at a much lower price.
Wilson has said that all of its products are released only after thorough quality assurance and performance tests. The company uses double electrically insulated RF enclosures and cell site simulators for compliance testing and uses verifiable, independent testing to measure product performance against other vendor’s products.
The Sleek will extend the calling range and signal strength of any phone on any North American cell service provider’s network except on the Nextel/iDEN. All of Wilson’s amplifiers work on all generations of CDMA, TDMA, GSM and the latest 3G high-speed data technologies.
According to Wilson, the Sleek and its external vehicular antenna increases any phone’s output power to the cell site while improving its ability to hear signals it normally cannot, keeping the user more reliably connected. It is designed for simple setup and can be moved easily from vehicle to vehicle. It is supposed to help users reduce dropped calls, increase data rates in weak signal areas and originate calls from those dreaded “dead spots”.
The roof-mounted antenna receives the phone’s signal from the cell tower and sends it to the Sleek cradle via cable. The signal is then boosted by the Sleek’s built-in amplifier and then transmitted to the cell phone by its built-in antenna. The process is then repeated in reverse to send a boosted cell phone signal back to the cell tower.
The Sleek operates on both the 800 MHz and 1900 MHz frequency bands, and like all Wilson Electronics cell signal boosters, the Sleek meets all FCC (News - Alert) and Industry Canada technical specifications.
In related news, Wilson Electronics recently unveiled SignalBoost DB Pro and launched iBooster phone-specific kits.
