PreEmptive Solutions Intros Runtime Intelligence Analytics Provider

March 18, 2010

PreEmptive Solutions, a provider of solutions to protect, measure, and manage application investments, has introduced its Runtime Intelligence Analytics Provider, which will enable designers and developers to deploy the new Silverlight Analytics Framework for integrating Runtime Intelligence into Microsoft (News - Alert) Silverlight applications.

The company offers Dotfuscator and DashO application protection, monitoring and management product families and the Runtime Intelligence Service to over 4,000 corporate clients and 40,000 registered installations in 100+ countries.

The Silverlight Analytics Framework is a new open-source framework that helps designers and developers in integrating Web analytics into Silverlight applications in a consistent manner. The framework is offered as a set of behaviors in Expression Blend so that the designers and developers can visually instrument their designs and configure A/B testing rapidly without writing any code.

In a release, Sebastian Holst, Chief Marketing Officer at PreEmptive Solutions, said the company offers Silverlight instrumentation for developers through the post-compile injection capabilities of Dotfuscator, and with the Silverlight Analytics Framework, it can now extend its analytics services to both designers and developers through Microsoft Expression Blend.

David Kelly, Principal User eXperience Architect, Wirestone, and Silverlight MVP, said he already considered PreEmptive Solutions’ Runtime Intelligence to be a critical tool in his Silverlight toolbox, and he felt that extending the tool’s reach beyond the developer and to surface it inside Expression Blend should make Runtime Intelligence that much more relevant to anyone who cares about Business Intelligence usage of their applications.

The Runtime Intelligence offered by PreEmptive Solutions provides a number of enhancements to the users over traditional Web analytics services. These enhancements include the analytics endpoint that can be self-hosted and managed by the application provider. Further, while the resulting Web analytics maps to the Microsoft Silverlight Analytics Framework data model, the underlying SOAP schema is shared with Dotfuscator’s instrumentation included with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.

Additionally, leveraging the common schema, Dotfuscator offers a complementary instrumentation method for any .NET (News - Alert) Framework component. It enables the users to instrument middle and back-office application tiers so that they provide a deeper view across distributed application workflows.

Michael S. Scherotter, Principal Architect Evangelist at Microsoft Corporation and architect of the analytics framework noted that PreEmptive Solutions has successfully used the Silverlight Analytics Framework to open its application instrumentation and performance monitoring to a new audience of designers using Microsoft Expression Blend.

In November PreEmptive Solutions announced the immediate availability of its Customer Experience Improvement Program or ‘CEIP’, which aimed at providing the developers and businesses of any size with invaluable user experience feedback previously only available to the largest development organizations.
