BMC Software Inks Deal with Salesforce.com

BMC Software, a Texas-based company specializing in Business Service Management solutions, has reportedly announced a strategic alliance with salesforce.com, the enterprise cloud computing company, to deliver BMC's IT management solutions on the Force.com platform.
BMC said that its Business Service Management solutions are designed to deliver a comprehensive approach and unified platform for managing IT. These solutions cover the entire IT organization right from mainframe to distributed systems, physical to virtual, operations to support.
Salesforce.com’s (News - Alert) Force.com is an enterprise platform for building and running business applications in the cloud. The Force.com platform is said to power the company's portfolio of Salesforce CRM with more than 800 ISV partner applications, and more than 135,000 custom applications. Reportedly, applications built on the Force.com platform can be easily distributed to the entire cloud computing community through the salesforce.com.
Both Salesforce CRM and Force.com are based on salesforce.com's real-time, multitenant architecture.
Under the deal with Salesforce.com, both the companies will be focusing on critical service desk function and processes delivered via the cloud.
"BMC's new alliance with salesforce.com will make it easier than ever for customers to simplify and automate their IT and achieve a quick return on their investment," said Bob Beauchamp, chairman and chief executive at BMC, in a statement. "A strong, simplified and standardized service desk is critical to improving efficiency, increasing service levels and reducing costs."
"The alliance between salesforce.com and BMC will accelerate IT management success with cloud computing," said Marc Benioff (News - Alert), chairman and CEO at salesforce.com. "Customers can now leverage enterprise-class IT management completely in the cloud with Force.com and BMC Software (News - Alert)."
As per the announcement, BMC Service Desk Express on Force.com will be available from the second quarter of calendar year 2010. Both the companies are planning to co-market and co-sell the solution.
