Sangoma Releases Lyra Answering Machine Detection for Asterisk, Priced for Open Source Market

December 10, 2012

Provider of hardware and software components that enable or enhance IP communications systems for voice and data, Sangoma Technologies Corporation, has today made available a new software solution called Lyra Answering Machine Detection (AMD) for Asterisk (News - Alert). Put simply, Lyra allows system developers to integrate sophisticated dialer analytics features into Asterisk-based platforms.

Lyra AMD for Asterisk was first announced at AstriCon in October and has gained interest from call center solution developers as the software package offers a unique set of call progress analytics based on specialized neural network algorithms. The software helps to ensure that out-dial call center agents only get connected to productive calls, as opposed to answering machines or intercept announcements, and has been proven to deliver AMD (News - Alert) accuracy at levels of 95 percent in under 300ms, almost hitting 98 percent in under two seconds.

Furthermore, this software is compatible all the way back to Asterisk 1.4 and can be applied to TDM and SIP-based VoIP calls, making it very accessible. Indeed, Lyra is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing it to traverse mixed-technology environments common in most modern call center operations. Sangoma has also priced Lyra AMD for Asterisk specifically for the open source marketplace, allowing open source providers to compete on an even plane with proprietary system houses.

"While some providers appear to be backing away from the open source market, Sangoma continues to maintain its strong commitment to continually developing cost-effective hardware and software solutions for open source developers looking to incorporate new features and leading-edge performance into their solutions," said Frederic Dickey, director of professional services at Sangoma. "Sangoma recognizes the growth opportunities in open source, and its success in this space demonstrates the steady growth that the company is experiencing in both standard product and OEM engagements throughout the world."

Sangoma also recently released another new product, Lync Express, which is designed to allow small and mid-size businesses to take full advantage of Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync as a unified communications and business phone system. Lync Express was showcased by the company back in July at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto, Canada.
