Apkudo Device Analytics Software Released

Apkudo announced the release of the Apkudo Device Analytics software that can be used to test Android (News - Alert) smartphones and tablets before being sold to consumers.

In a release Josh Matthews, Apkudo CEO said, “Apkudo Device Analytics helps speed handsets and tablets to market, finding usability problems earlier in acceptance testing. Testing with Apkudo Device Analytics helps OEMs and operators meet the fragmentation challenge and position new devices to be competitive in the dynamic mobile marketplace.”

The new software and services software, Apkudo Device Analytics, enables mobile network operators and device manufacturers (OEMs) of Android devices to further enhance end-user experience. This software helps in detecting application performance problems before the launch of Android handsets and tablets.

Android platforms face problems in interoperability and performance owing to fragmentation. In case of differentiation with respect to hardware, look, functionality and APIs, some applications may work only on select Android devices. As several Android apps and Android-based devices are released frequently, it becomes a problem for OEMs and operators who are not sure if popular apps are compatible with their devices.

Apkudo Device Analytics software leverages core Android system applications and a select group of 200 apps in the Android Market to test multiple attributes that users will experience. The features tested include actual device usage patterns, testing of scroll speed in launcher, responsiveness of dialer and stability besides other performance characteristics.

A thorough analysis of the data collected by the test suites helps the analytics software to compare standard reference values and the results procured in actual devices. Based on the test results specific recommendations can be given. The Apkudo Device Analytics simplifies the multi-faceted test results by providing ratings and ranking.

Using the detailed test information mobile device manufacturers and network operators can assess the performance of devices. This will indicate those characteristics which will be preferred by consumers besides also highlighting possible causes of dissatisfaction.

According to officials this new software complements the Apkudo App Analytics Platform that was launched in November 2011. The Apkudo App Analytics Platform enables Android application developers to test their software on various mobile devices.
