ALCATEL ONE TOUCH Embeds Currency Converter in Android Handsets
ALCATEL ONE TOUCH, which designs, develops, and markets a growing range of mobile and Internet products globally, entered into a partnership with OANDA, the first online provider of comprehensive currency exchange information, to provide Android (News - Alert) users with a currency converter.
"Our partnership with ALCATEL ONE TOUCH is an opportunity to reach its smartphone users with a custom-branded version of our Android currency converter. Our app gives them immediate access to the same daily, filtered exchange rates used by global banks and auditing firms," said Michael Stumm, CEO, OANDA Corporation, in a press release.
The company is currently shipping handsets with the popular OANDA Android Currency Converter app. It has been in the forefront of the mobile and online currency app landscape transforming the business of foreign exchange.
It also has mobile Currency Converter apps for iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, Symbian (News - Alert), and J2ME enabled devices.
Dr George Guo, CEO of TCL Communication Technology, which uses ALCATEL ONE TOUCH as one of its brands noted that currency conversion utilities were very popular and downloaded by mobile users as financial apps were useful in many situations.
Guo is also contemplating the expansion of the smartphone product portfolio so that customers have a suite of mobile apps the moment they activate their ALCATEL ONE TOUCH phones.
Acknowledging the leadership position of OANDA in the foreign exchange industry, Guo noted that it had a reputation for providing useful and innovative, quality apps. He was impressed by the number of times the currency converter app had been downloaded and stated that the Android version included an installable widget that displayed daily updated rates on the home screen.
