BMC Software Announces Mobile Self-Service App for Control-M Plus BI Enhancement

December 05, 2011

The use of mobile devices in the workplace is on the rise and in recognition of this growing demand for mobile access, business service management software provider BMC Software (News - Alert) announced major business intelligence enhancements for its flagship workload automation solution, Control-M.

In addition of incorporating Cognos Business Intelligence Tools to its Control-M solution, BMC has also launched Control-M Self Service mobile app to allow Control-M users to monitor and manage scheduled processing and complex event workloads from anywhere via their mobile device.

The BI enhancement is designed to enable both business and IT Control-M users to interact with their workload automation tasks and understand if work will be completed on time to satisfy their business needs. The app will enable the Control-M users to manage their automated workload activity, in a role-based, self-service view on their iPad tablet device or iPhone (News - Alert), BMC explained in a recent press release.

BMC Software said that till date it has recorded a constant download of about 100 users per month for the app.

It has also become crucial for companies to have a single workload automation solution covering the operations of the entire organization. In response to this requirement, BMC is going to introduce a new wizard conversion toolset that makes it simple and fast for companies to consolidate on Control-M and achieve improved productivity and efficiency.

Recently, BMC reported the addition of 13 new BMC Control-M customers and the expansion of its existing relationships with 55 new product placements. The new and upgraded Control-M customers include: Ascena Retail Group, Foxtel, RI-Solution GmbH, and, SuperPartners. BMC claimed that the IT departments of the client companies have reported satisfaction after using the enhanced Control-M workload automation solution for saving resources and expenditures while keeping a diverse IT environment working together

In the release, BMC announced that the Control-M Self Service mobile app is available for free download in the Apple (News - Alert) iTunes store.

“The BMC Control-M Self Service App for the iPad and iPhone is the perfect pairing of mobile technology and simplicity. It gives our customers a portable and intuitive interface that enables them to access and manage their complex scheduled workloads regardless of whether they are in the data center running between meetings or in the shopping center running between errands,” president and CEO of Cetan Corp, an Elite BMC Software Partner, Brad Scott noted in a statement.

In a separate press release, BMC has reported new customer win. The company announced that Canadian North Airlines, a major provider of scheduled passenger and cargo services in Canada, has chosen to implement BMC Software's  highly efficient and cost effective SaaS (News - Alert) based help desk and IT systems support solution, Remedyforce Service Desk.
