SAS Announces Increase in Data Management Sales

November 23, 2011

Data management technologies from SAS (News - Alert) are increasingly being selected by enterprises as the worth of accumulated data assets is recognized. The information foundation for the companies is created and maintained by SAS. This helps the companies to make better decisions. SAS is a top company in business analytics.

SAS has seen an increase in the new sales of data management software globally in 2011. As compared to the first three quarters in 2010, SAS has recorded an 18 percent rise in sales for the same period in 2011. In 2000, the highly regarded DataFlux was acquired by SAS after recognizing the fact that the foundation of business analytics is data management. The growing demand for data management solutions are addressed by the collaboration of the tightly integrated companies.

In a release, Jim Davis, SVP and CMO for SAS, said, “A data management platform is critical to business analytics. Our converged sales team can engage in a range of discussions, from data management to integrated data management/analytics. Information management, including data management, is a vital competitive edge.”

Preserving the diversity of life and nature has been the mission of The Nature Conservancy. The organization has taken help of SAS Data Management technologies for supporting this mission. According to John Blackwell, Director of Business Information and Analytics, The Nature Conservancy, too much time was spent by the organization in converting the fundraising data instead of analyzing it. Apart from optimizing donor gift size, the organization needed to increase campaign response rates. At the same time, costs needed to be kept down.

Blackwell said, “We chose SAS to integrate data selection, transformation and analysis in a single environment. The efficiencies achieved through SAS data management reduced indirect costs, including analyst hours. The bottom line is we increased revenue per direct mail item, so we have more money to spend on conservation.”

According to Davis, the need for good information management has been intensified with this era of big data. This will strengthen the potential for business value and opportunity. SAS is increasingly being selected by organizations that are under pressure to be more agile. These organizations also need to address content from social media.
