Convergys Implements Centralized Inventory Management for Virgin Media

Convergys (News - Alert) Corporation, specializing in relationship management, announced that it has fully implemented centralized inventory management on its ICOMS cable, broadband and satellite solution for Virgin Media (News - Alert).

Virgin Media Executive Director Maurice Daw said in a release, “Convergys has played an important role in the transformation of our logistics operations, integrating twenty different systems and platforms into a single end-to-end solution that is already yielding significant improvements for us and, most importantly, our customers across the United Kingdom.”

“Given our track record of working with them, we knew we could count on Convergys to work well as part of a close-knit virtual team on this project. Convergys has successfully delivered on a very complex and vital project,” added Daw.

Virgin Media a UK-based entertainment and communications company said that the Convergys ICOMS solution will enhance operating efficiencies via an automated inventory creation process. This will result in the elimination of manual interventions, reduced IT support, and retirement of bespoke inventory movement applications.

It is expected that Virgin Media will leverage the solution to track customer premises equipment, in both forward and backward logistics, from ICOMS. This will form part of a transformation of the company’s supply chain thereby improving the service delivered to customers.

ICOMS helps in the automation of the collection, validation, transformation, and delivery of asset tracking files, further driving cost improvements, said officials.

Virgin Media had to segregate its inventory of customer equipment including equipment for more than thirteen million landline, mobile, broadband, and cable product subscriptions, in more than twenty different configurations.

However the ICOMS solution and its central inventory database has eliminated the need to segregate, thereby enabling Virgin Media to reduce its inventory stock and associated storage space.

Jonathan Smith, Convergys’s managing director, EMEA stated, “Convergys’ solutions are built to be both flexible and robust, enabling our clients to deliver on their goals for operational efficiency, cost optimization, and customer service excellence.”

Smith added that Convergys has supported Virgin Media’s supply chain transformation initiative since inception with synergized efforts from the companies’ development and implementation teams.

Convergys recently opened its headquarters and contact center in Bogota in which all call center employees are 100 percent bilingual.
