HP Launched HP SDP Storefront Portal Solution to Enable CSPs Create App Stores
In a fast changing mobile Internet marketplace, communications service providers (CSPs) are constantly striving to earn competitive edge by offering innovative services to their customers through third parties. Many of them are creating app stores to lock in customer loyalty. According to the world famous technology company HP, the success of app store will depend on front-end ease of use that appeals to subscribers as well as back-end SDP infrastructure that attracts developers. To this end, HP recently launched HP SDP Storefront Portal solution that enables CSPs to offer their customers a fast, easy way to shop for, download and manage mobile services and entertainment content.
Launched at the SDP Global Summit, the solution is based on the company’s service delivery platform (SDP) technology. The solution’s framework supports two-sided business models: wholesale and retail, HP informed in a press release.
The HP SDP Storefront Portal solution comes packed with features to enable CSPs to monetize their assets. Offering App Store, development portal and Test Automation for Smart Devices as its key functionalities, the HP SDP Storefront Portal has been developed as an integrated solution with an extensible framework to enable CSPs link service delivery platforms to the app store business model.
The solution strives to create an easy-to-use marketplace, with access to thousands of digital assets for consumers.
According to its maker, the portal offers vibrant partner relationship management functions, such as simplified tools and application programming interfaces (APIs), that developers can use to create enriched applications.
The solution also includes a test-and-certification module to ensure that applications work as intended on subscriber devices.
“To reclaim their place in the mobile value chain, CSPs must build attractive app stores that both consumers and developers can take advantage of. App stores depend on developers, and the new HP SDP Storefront Portal solution will allow CSPs to engage and manage an exponentially larger developer community,” vice president and general manager, Communications and Media Solutions, HP Enterprise Services David Sliter noted in a statement.
“Solutions like HP’s that expose network assets such as call control, location, messaging and presence will help developers create the new services that operators need,” directing analyst at Infonetics (News - Alert), an international market research and consulting firm Shira Levine said in a statement.
Recently HP Australia won a technology services contract from Australian hospital. Under the contract, HP is going to design, build and maintain a portion of the information, communication and technology (ICT) systems for the South Australia Government's digital hospital in Adelaide, Australia.
