Startup Seesmic Launches Social Media CRM for Android Devices

August 31, 2011

Business Insider reports that the startup Seesmic (News - Alert), which makes a suite of popular social media tools, is ready to launch its next product, Seesmic customer relationship management or CRM. It is designed to let companies interact with customers in social media, said Seesmic. The first CRM app is for Android (News - Alert) based tablets, which is being shown this week at Dreamforce 2011 in San Francisco, Calif. According to Seesmic, CRM will also be available soon on Apple’s (News - Alert) iPad and Windows Phone 7.

According to Seesmic, its CRM puts Salesforce in the palm of your hand. Besides the speed and features one is looking for in a new mobile app, it also couples seamless synchronization required in many apps.

Business Insider wrote that Seesmic had an interesting past and went through many transformations before developing the CRM solution in collaboration with Salesforce.com (News - Alert). The company raised $4 million from Salesforce to get into the enterprise side of social media software, wrote Business Insider reporter Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry.

According to Seesmic, it is not competing with Salesforce because it focuses is on social media CRM, wrote Gobry.

As per this report, Seesmic and its founder Loic Le Meur sometimes get bad press for constantly changing the company’s focus from time to time and, thereby, not having a business model. Nevertheless, wrote Gobry, “But, what Le Meur is doing is admirable. This is what startup entrepreneurship is about: bobbing and weaving and adapting.” He added, “Hopefully for Seesmic, this time will be right.”
