June 10, 2011

SAP (News - Alert) Company Sybase, Inc. is honored with the "2010-2011 Most Successful Database Software Vendor in China" award by China's Centre for Information Industry Development Consulting (CCID Consulting), China's leading IT research institute.

Sybase statement said that it is the only enterprise vendor to receive this prestigious award two years in a row.

"China has been Sybase's (News - Alert) fastest growing market, and we are encouraged by the continued strong support from our customers and industry regulatory bodies," Horace Chow, vice president of Asia Pacific and General Manager of Greater China, Sybase said in a press release.

"Our strategy has always been to put the customers' best interest first. We remain committed to their success by delivering cutting-edge solutions coupled with the highest level of service that promote competitive advantage through innovation and best practices," Chow added.

In 2010, Sybase strengthened its market leadership in the telecommunications sector, securing orders for its mobility solution from China Telecom (News - Alert), China Unicom and China Mobile. It also won new customers in the financial services sector. Sybase believes that these recognitions reaffirm the technical prowess of its solutions and the excellent market competitiveness it accords to customers of its technology.

As indicated by CCID Consulting, Sybase has now positioned itself as the second highest ranked database software vendor in China's burgeoning telecommunications, banking and insurance sectors. Also, in a statement, CCID highlighted on the latest IT Application Market 2010-2011 annual report where it had estimated that Sybase's database to have garnered 25.1 percent market share in the telecommunications industry, 25 percent in the banking industry, and 24.1 percent in the insurance industry.

"Twenty-eleven marks the onset of China's 12th Five-Year Plan, which places strategic emphasis on increased investment in IT infrastructure," said Li Jun, president of CCID Consulting.

"Sybase's gains in the emerging markets of telecommunications, banking and finance, and the insurance sectors, reflect its deep understanding of the business challenges facing these industries and the crucial role technology plays in helping create sustainable competitive advantage for the long term. Other IT vendors will do well to emulate Sybase's strategy," Jun added.

Recently Sybase announced that its Enterprise Mobility Guide 2011 – “All About Mobile Device Management,” a digital publication designed to meet the demands of the people with a mobile lifestyle, is now available in iBooks or on iTunes.
