Customers of SAS Analytics Awarded for Innovative Use of Software

April 07, 2011

SAS (News - Alert), the leading provider of business analytics software, is awarding two of its organizational customers for making innovative use of its SAS Analytics software. The winners of the 2011 Enterprise Excellence Award are the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Group and the North Carolina Office of State Controller.

These two companies made innovative use of SAS analytics to help their employees to attain their creative potential, make unique connections, and discover new solutions. Tom Kari, Information Technology Consultant at Statistics Canada, has also been awarded the 2011 User Feedback Award for his contributions and feedback for enhancing the quality and functionality of SAS Analytics.

SAS recognized North Carolina Office of State Controller for innovatively using SAS Analytics for its Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Automated Data Services (CJLEADS), which integrates criminal justice information from different organizations to come up with better and complete profiles of offenders.

CJLEADS acts as a single secure source of criminal justice information that can be accessed using the Web. CJLEADS has a user-friendly and interactive user interface that can be customized to set up watch lists and get notifications when there are changes in the records of specified offenders.

In a release, Jim Davis, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at SAS, said, “Over 35 years of delivering analytics, SAS has helped people at all levels of an organization exploit data to solve business problems and grasp new opportunities. For fact-based decision making, everyone needs ready access to data. These award winners are accomplishing just that by delivering the power of SAS Analytics to knowledge workers up and down the organizational chain.”

RBS, a leading provider of global financial services, has been awarded for its use of SAS Analytics to create an extensive advanced analytics platform that offers a centralized capability for agile analytics across the Group. RBS Technology Services developed the SAS analytical platform for the RBS Group. This platform targets to help the RBS Group to obtain maximum value out of its data transformation program, set up a common analytical framework that can be used by its current as well as future programs, and help decision makers across the Group to get an insight into the customer requirements. It also helps the Group to closely match its products and services to the customer requirements, improve risk assessment, and predict future scenarios and demands using proven methods.
