MetaVis Unveils Change Control and Release Manager

October 22, 2010

Helping clients to manage and automate changes between SharePoint development, staging and production environments, MetaVis Technologies introduced MetaVis Change Control and Release Manager (CCRM).

Keeping SharePoint content organized can be a challenging process. Content and SharePoint settings change frequently and are unavoidable. Auditing, tracking and controlling these changes are essential in minimizing errors and ensuring SharePoint site consistency and governance.

Both content and settings changes are unavoidable in any SharePoint environment. To automate changes in SharePoint, MetaVis CCRM provides a controllable and repeatable way. Companies can now audit and track changes using high-level and granular reports that detail the difference between SharePoint objects with CCRM. This includes sites, lists/libraries, fields, content types, folders, Web parts, workflows, InfoPath forms, Term Stores, etc.

“As organizations build applications on top of SharePoint, the challenge becomes moving them from test to production environments without losing information or errors,” said Steven Pogrebivsky, CEO and co-founder of MetaVis Technologies, in a press release. “All SharePoint applications are made up of many objects such as Web parts, content types, lists, etc. MetaVis CCRM lets organizations select these objects and create activities to help manage and deploy them to other SharePoint environments.”

CCRM allows various IT change management processes that include bringing back data collected in production back to test and development, pushing updates to multiple SharePoint environments at once, scheduling recurring activities for automated distribution, disseminating changes made in a SharePoint development environment to test, staging and production, and group sets of SharePoint objects and deploying to one or many environments, the company stated.

Recently, the company announced MetaVis Cloud Classifier for SharePoint 2010. Using MetaVis Cloud Classifier, SharePoint 2010 users can tag (News - Alert) and classify multiple items directly from the SharePoint user interface. Through direct integration into the SharePoint Web Interface, cloud Classifier appears seamlessly in the SharePoint ribbon. Users are given more control to add the appropriate metadata to documents extending the value of SharePoint search and improving the user experience.
