Adgregate Markets Intros ShopFans Secure Social Commerce Application
Adgregate Markets, a provider of transactional advertising and distributed commerce solutions, has announced to introduce ShopFans, its first truly social shopping application that has built entirely within Facebook (News - Alert).
ShopFans has been developed leveraging the world's most secure social commerce technology, and allows consumers to make secure purchase transactions directly in Facebook without compromising security and privacy.
Instead of a 'store in a widget, it had been built by Adgregate Markets as a native Facebook Platform application. The solution enables brands to leverage all the social networking aspects of Facebook for their benefits, which include News Feed stories promoting "Wish lists," "I want this!," "Likes," "Shout outs," gift registries, private and exclusive sales. The company says ShopFans is the first ever fully secure, complete, and native Facebook ecommerce application made available in the industry, which not only allows brands to chat directly with its fans, but also allows fans to virally promote and share the brand's message and products.
According to the results of US Retail Executive Online Survey conducted by Forrester Research (News - Alert) in the fourth quarter of the year 2009, 64 percent of respondents found social commerce to be one of the top five investment priorities in 2010. Further, a recent report by the research firm suggests that Facebook is by far the most effective way to turn conversations into conversions. The report says that out of the 69 percent of online shoppers who are social media users, 56 percent have also chosen to "friend," "follow," or "subscribe to" at least one store brand on Facebook, while 49 percent of those who follow brands through Facebook want to hear about deals, and 45 percent want to browse products.
Additionally, a recent eMarketer (News - Alert) report claimed that over 50 percent of US Internet users are more likely to purchase from brands whom they are a 'fan' of, while more than 60 percent of them said that their Facebook fandom increased the chance they would recommend a brand to a friend on Facebook.
According to Henry Wong (News - Alert), CEO at Adgregate, the company has seen some early attempts at social commerce, and despite its namesake, there's really nothing social about commerce in a widget. Wong noted that in order for true social shopping to exist, brands need access to a holistic solution which ties directly into all of the Facebook social hooks, allows users to shop without ever leaving Facebook, and provides a secure ecommerce experience, and ShopFans is the only product in market today to deliver on the true promise of social commerce.
In March 2010, Adgregate Markets entered a strategic alliance with IPG Emerging Media Lab, a unit of IPG's Mediabrands. Under this deal, Adgregate will provide preferential terms to Interpublic agencies and clients and IPG will promote Adgregate products and services to the Interpublic agency network.
