ONTILITY Intros New SaaS Solar Business Technology Platform
January 29, 2010
ONTILITY, a company that supports provider and consumer solar power, energy efficiency and weatherization projects through its solar power and efficient energy EcoCommunity, reportedly announced to introduce a new solar business Software as a Service or ‘SaaS’ (News - Alert) Solar and Green Business Technology Platform, known as EcoTech.
The company bridges the gaps between the solar power and efficient energy 'last mile' through renewable, efficient, ecologically and economically aware solar power, solar thermal, and energy efficiency products and solutions that address residential, commercial and utility scale, education and workforce development and communities based market segments.
The ONTILITY EcoTech Platform has been designed upon a ‘software as a service’ or ‘SaaS’ Web 2.0 based architecture. The platform has got NetSuite (News - Alert), SuiteApps and SuiteCloud at its core. It consists of five EcoTech Modules and portals that together offer leading edge technology and tools for all residential and commercial scale solar projects.
The platform is hosted via cloud architecture, and can be accessed anytime, anywhere via the internet and supports all devices, such as smart phones and tablet computers, as well. It provides the enterprises with real-time inventory and pricing, enabling them to check stock and pricing anytime. Its other features include real-time project visibility right from design to quotes to installation, and real-time dashboards for tracking orders and installations. Users can seamlessly integrate the platform to retail electric provider backend and Web based systems as well as industry leading solar and energy efficiency site analysis and audit software and tools.
According to Tom Pash, CEO of ONTILITY, as the company saw its business model grow and listened to its clients and partners, it realized there was a need for a complete end-to-end software platform that is dedicated towards helping move solar projects from analysis to design to quote to installation to utility interconnection more efficiently. Pash also said ONTILITY witnessed a need for a complete solar platform that can also function as both a solar industry specific Customer Relationship Management or ‘CRM’ and Enterprise Resource Planning or ‘ERP’ application.
ONTILITY’s EcoTech platform offers a process driven, unified way to speed up the solar system installation process from beginning to end, while managing both clients and resources effectively, its best part being that it is offered via a cloud, so the company can set up new clients, partners and dealers or installers in a few minutes, and the users can log into the EcoTech platform directly from ONTILITY website after the application is set up.
The company also offers flexible pricing packages that begin at $125 per user, per month, so that the platform can help even the smallest solar integrator look and conduct business like SolarCity (News - Alert) in a matter of minutes with no initial investment and quick deployment, Pash said.
Recently, Oerlikon Solar, a provider of thin film silicon solar equipments had announced it will be presenting its technology at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi. The Micromorph factories of the company are likely to reach production costs at grid parity by the end of this year, making solar energy cost equal to fossil fuel-generated energy in many locations, claimed the company.
