Verizon Enhances its Self-Service Tools

The best place to shop and pay your bills is home, said Verizon (News - Alert) with its improved self service tools. These improved tools make sure that you do not leave your houses for mundane activities such as shopping and playing your bills. It also takes care of fixing problems with TV and Internet services round the clock.
More and more customers want to complete the activities such as shopping and paying bills from the comfort of their homes as it saves time and traveling costs. For companies like Verizon, this is an opportunity to provide value added services to the customers.
According to the company, users will now be in direct control of their specific service needs as the online and voice-activated tools, the expansion and enhancement are designed to be easy for customers to use. Verizon claims that a growing number of customers are using self-service tools every day for such things as paying bills, purchasing airline tickets and making hotel reservations.
“The broadband connections we provide our customers have received wide industry acclaim for reliability and performance,” said Lou Sigillo, vice president of customer service strategy at Verizon. “We've now taken that great technology and added diagnostic and self-managed tools that allow customers to obtain the service or products they need from us, often using the same tools our own customer service representatives use.”
The tools include Support section of Verizon.com; online ordering for existing and new customers for bundles and a la carte services within Verizon.com; FiOS (News - Alert) TV Interactive Media Guide; In-Home Agent software; and a telephone voice response system. The company is also providing the Verizon Perks program, which provides customers the opportunity to save money when purchasing gift cards from popular retailers.
Recently, the company partnered with McAfee (News - Alert) to offer an upgraded Verizon Internet Security Suite to Verizon's more than 9 million FiOS Internet and High Speed Internet customers. At $5.99 a month, the Verizon Internet Security Suite provides unique features such as parental controls, which allows parents to customize the level of protection for each child, depending on their age.
