Research In Motion Ltd.’ subsidiary Chalk Media Corp. reportedly announced the release of Chalk Pushcast Software 5.4 for the BlackBerry (News - Alert) enterprise solution.

 

Chalk Pushcast is the latest and newly branded release of mobile chalkboard, which provides a secure as well as trackable communication channel for delivering rich content (both audio and video) to BlackBerry smartphones. It delivers protected, tracked content to BlackBerry smartphones for training, compliance, corporate updates, and more.

 

According to officials with Chalk, the company’s BlackBerry application enables organizations to push media-rich content to BlackBerry smartphone users wirelessly, thereby enhancing productivity and improving employee efficiency.

 

Featuring advanced manageability, enhanced security, and support for the latest BlackBerry smartphones, Chalk Pushcast Software 5.4 not only provides a new look and feel to the Chalk Pushcast Player, but also features deeper integration with BlackBerry Enterprise Server for streamlined manageability.

 

The Chalk Pushcast software is also provided with Secure Socket Layer security for Web access. It provides SSL security to all Web services, such as content publishing and data transfer to and from BlackBerry smartphones.

 

Compatible with BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1 and above, the Chalk Pushcast software also supports BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry OS 4.6 and above that facilitates organizations to push multimedia-rich content to the latest BlackBerry smartphones, such as BlackBerry Bold 9700, BlackBerry Storm2 9550, and BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphones.

 

Officials with Chalk Media said that the Chalk Pushcast software encompasses mainly four components - the Chalk Pushcast Console, the Chalk Pushcast Player for BlackBerry smartphones, the Chalk Pushcast Desktop Player, and Chalk Pushcast Tools. The software also includes the Chalk Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft (News - Alert) PowerPoint and the Chalk Pushcast Policy Pack.

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server user synchronization enhancement provided to Chalk Pushcast facilitates administrators to synchronize their BlackBerry Enterprise Server database with the Chalk Pushcast Console database - for streamlined user management. Moreover, administrators can utilize Chalk Pushcast Software to push video- or audio-based corporate RSS feeds to individuals or groups via a specific 'podcasting channel', which is present in the Chalk Pushcast Player.

 

With the help of latest Chalk Pushcast, users can also have the ability to set policies in the Chalk Pushcast Policy Pack from their BlackBerry smartphones, in order to control how and when the Player downloads content. These policies can be set for WiFi (News - Alert) usage, bandwidth usage and roaming.
