Sandvine Supports Cricket Broadband Internet
January 13, 2010
Sandvine (News - Alert), a provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for cable, DSL, FTTx, fixed wireless and mobile operators, has deployed Sandvine's policy traffic switch, or “PTS,” platform and service creation solutions in Cricket's 3G mobile broadband network.
“Cricket is using a Sandvine solution to identify its customers whose service has expired and redirect them to a customer service site where they can conveniently extend their service term,” said Tom Donnelly, co-founder, EVP marketing and sales, Sandvine, in a statement.
Donnelly said that new rich media Internet applications are placing ever-growing demands for bandwidth and quality of service.
Cutting edge solutions, like this one deployed with Openet (News - Alert), support the world's leading network providers to introduce new, personalized services for their customers using our innovative, partnered solutions, he also added.
Sandvine officials said that its sophisticated end-to-end network policy control solution allows operators to create intelligent broadband networks through network policy control.
What’s more, the company’s solutions detect network conditions that trigger policies within the network to help service providers enhance subscribers' Internet experience.
The company officials said that the Sandvine platform and solutions provide network policy control solutions for unparalleled network reporting, capacity planning, congestion management, new personalized service creation, malicious traffic mitigation and enhanced customer service.
In December, Sandvine and Optenet, a major player of enabling SaaS (News - Alert) offerings and delivering on-premise security solutions, entered into strategic partnership to launch optimized parental controls for broadband subscribers worldwide.
Optenet officials said that the integrated solution leverages the company’s proven content filtering and threat analysis technology and Sandvine’s application- and subscriber-awareness to provide Web protection with superior scalability and configurable, per-subscriber granularity.
Company officials said that it allows operators to provide an integrated residential broadband service, including enhanced parental control capability. End-users do not have to seek additional protection from a third-party security vendor.
