Openet Launches eWallet Solution to Help Operators Improve Billing

November 17, 2009
Openet (News - Alert), a provider of “transactional intelligence” solutions, has reportedly announced the imminent launch its eWallet solution, which helps multichannel operators provide customers with the ability to buy content, services and goods across multiple devices.

Using the technology, providers can create new revenue opportunities and develop new business models that maximize customer relationships.

The sector of media and entertainment distribution is going through big changes as the demand for multi-screen content is increasing. The new players are entering the field as the traditional boundaries among creators, packagers and distributors are continuously breaking down.

A multichannel video operator needs to maintain a sound billing relationship with its subscribers. The alternate payment methods being introduced by the competitors begin a rage for consumer spending, thereby threatening operator relationships and content distribution. It is important for multichannel operators to offer customers easy, quick and flexible ways of buying, so that their billing relationships with customers are protected and maximized.

The eWallet solution by Openet offers a number of features to multichannel video operators. It offers them various customized and secure payment methods to be automatically applied based on subscriber information, purchase history, pricing rules, operator policies and other parameters, to ensure the buying experience is optimized.

The operators can deploy its real-time transactional engine that facilitates authorization controls, secure payment methods and invoicing of customer purchases, helping them in working with multiple internal and partner systems.

Apart from it, the eWallet Solution helps operators in establishing commerce partnerships with third-party vendors that allow customers to seamlessly purchase products, content and services from multiple companies. It provides the operators a simplified buying process regardless of the actual supplier or distributor, increasing their revenues.

The solution by Openet offers many flexible payment options that can be incorporated into it, such as customized payment rules for each customer or the ability to pay with loyalty points.

According to Mike Manzo, Chief Marketing Officer or ‘CMO’ of Openet, the advent of a multi-screen world offers tremendous opportunities along with daunting challenges, and both existing and new players are determining how they can participate in a rapidly evolving supply chain for entertainment and media content. Manzo added that in this environment, giving customers the ability to buy content, products and services anytime, anywhere and on any device is key to maximizing existing subscriber relationships and playing a leading role in the value chain.

Recently, Openet had announced to enter into a joint partnership with Sandvine (News - Alert), a provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for cable, DSL, FTTx, fixed wireless and mobile operators, to bring a network policy control and charging solution to broadband and wireless network providers across the globe.
