Verizon Caters to Spanish-Speaking Customer Base
March 11, 2009
While the United States has long been considered a “melting pot” for various cultures and nationalities, Hispanics have continued to increase their presence in the States – opening up opportunities for an entirely new market of users.
Verizon has announced it will now provide its Spanish-speaking customers with a Web site that includes all information on their products and services and offers the ability to place orders, register or manage accounts online, and all in the Spanish language.
The company’s new Spanish Web site not only makes it easier for their customers to get information in their native language, but also offers new self-service capabilities to improve the customer experience.
"We've always had some content in Spanish because we know that some of our customers prefer to learn about our products and services in their native language," said Mark Studness director of e-commerce for Verizon (News - Alert).
Verizon offers in-language customer service support in Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Korean and Vietnamese.
"Our newly launched Spanish Web site greatly expands our Spanish content and 7 x 24 self-service capabilities to meet the needs of our Spanish-speaking customers," said Studness.
With the new site, customers will gain access to information on the company’s FiOS (News - Alert) TV, Internet and DSL Internet services as well as other bundles and wireless phone offerings in their native tongue.
In addition to the new Spanish site, Verizon’s main homepage also includes "Espanol" links back to the Spanish site for visitors to see the same information in Spanish.
Verizon also has over 1,000 employees in 13 of their multicultural sales and solution centers throughout the country that provide support and assistance for all their customers.
In a bid to further examine the ways they and their customers can use energy to promote savings, Verizon’s director of corporate and network technology, Chuck Graff, recently announced new initiatives, standards and an energy management guide that Verizon will be undertaking.
As part of this move, Graff said Verizon will be implementing "strict standards governing the energy efficiency of new network equipment" they order as well as will use more fuel cells to replace older equipment and even power radio towers that support wireless services.
