ZipServers.com Intros New Datacenter in Washington D.C.
November 25, 2008
ZipServers, a provider of managed hosting solutions, recently launched its new Washington D.C. datacenter for its virtual private servers (VPS) line of products.
A data center is a facility that is used to house computer systems and related components, such as telecommunications and storage systems. In general, the data center incorporates redundant or backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls like air conditioning, fire suppression, and as well as security devices.
A virtual private server (VPS) is also known as virtual dedicated server (VDS). It is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers in such a way that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine. This looks like partitioning a single server in such a way that it appears as multiple servers. In VPS, each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted.
According to ZipServers, the new datacenter location is positioned perfectly for customers who reside on the Eastern United States and Western European, thereby offering these high demand markets with high-speed connections and as well as good coverage.
Charles Nix, vice president of sales, ZipServers, said, "We are excited to see the addition of this new datacenter into our arsenal. It provides those customers on that side of the world to experience faster connections and speeds to their servers."
At present, ZipServers also co-locates dedicated servers in six advanced data centers located at - Dallas, Texas. All these data centers are tier-1 facilities and offer complete redundancy in power, HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning), fire suppression, network connectivity, and as well as security, said the company.
Nowadays many companies offer virtual private server hosting as an extension for Web hosting services. In managed hosting, the tools are provided to monitor and control the virtual machine.
Charles also said that the company has released a new line of VPS packages. Its managed VPS include -Windows managed VPS and Linux managed VPS. Both these managed VPS are automated and secure. Along with managed VPS, the company also has launched control panel packages.
ZipServers’ new facility will enable users to connect securely via the private network to existing datacenters. The private network provides back up for user’s existing VPS in Dallas or Seattle, there by eliminating the need for any bandwidth usage. The facility also enables users to connect securely via a VPN to a totally segmented un-metered private network. This saves bandwidth for Public side usage, says the company.
