Pioneer Group Selects UltiPro Workplace to Accelerate and Streamline HCM

Ultimate Software, a provider of unified human capital management or “HCM” Software-as-a-Service or “SaaS (News - Alert)” solutions in North America, announced that Pioneer Group, an operator of Bronco Billy's, Buffalo Billy's, and Billy's Casinos, has selected UltiPro Workplace to accelerate and streamline the HCM and payroll processes for its casino companies.

According to Tami Heppard, payroll manager for Pioneer Group, the firm's previous payroll and HR system was a mainframe-based system that was out of date. The outdated HR system could neither track critical workforce information nor support and strengthen future HR initiatives.

Pioneer Group's payroll team had been entering information in three non-integrated systems without UltiPro. The extra data entry was translated into inefficiencies and mistakes.

Heppard, said, “The competing alternatives we examined were really nothing more than glorified mainframe systems. We're so excited to find UltiPro. Here is a single HCM solution that will replace five applications for our payroll/HR processes.”

The Colorado-based company also noted that it needed a fresh start with a unified solution, delivered via the cloud as a convenient SaaS solution. After going through many alternatives, Pioneer Group selected UltiPro in June 2010.

UltiPro is truly Web-based solution, according to Heppard. There is no need to call the provider, no downloading schedules, no uploading of anything. “We'd just enter the information, and our workforce data would be accurate and immediately available to us.”

In order to make its administrative process easier, Pioneer Group said it is also eager to give employees a hands-on, self-service option that will allow them to view and manage their own employment information, as authorized by the company's HR team.

Pioneer Group’s payroll is very complicated, Heppard added. “With many different types of tip requirements and with employees moving from job to job on a daily basis, our workforce is in a constant state of migration and flux.”

According to Pioneer Group officials, UltiPro is the first solution to step up and offer them real answers to problems they have been trying to solve for the last 10 years.

Back in August, Ultimate Software introduced UltiPro iPhone (News - Alert) App to boost HCM activities in organizations. The app enables UltiPro customers to give their HR staff, managers, and employees instant access to important HCM information via the Apple (News - Alert) iPhone.
